Our CEO, Helen Stokes (pictured on the first left), attended the official parliamentary launch last week of the ‘Preventing Choking Deaths Among People with Learning Disabilities’ good practice guide and toolkit. At the event were parliamentarians, providers, regulators, residents, and wider partners, including the CQC’s Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care and Integrated Care, Chris Badger (pictured middle).

The launch highlighted the importance of raising awareness, sharing best practice and taking practical, evidence-based steps to reduce the risk of choking and ultimately save lives. We welcome this important resource and the positive difference it can make for providers, professionals, families and, most importantly, the people we support.
